The saga of two heavy drinking, overweight, out of shape mountain bikers who will attempt to complete a number of crazy ass races.
Word on the street is smokin, eatin over 3000 cal's, drinking 5 nights a week and layin on the couch is not good training. Well god damn it we shall soon see..
My dumb ass has signed up for a few 100 mile off road point-to-point races and a 2nd go at the transrockies. First off is something called the Cohutta 100. It is on April 19 which I would like to point out is a tad over 2 mos away. Now to put this into perspective...I have 4 one-hour spin classes under my belt so far this year and I don't see many more in the future.
To set the scene here...It will be 5 degree's out this weekend and next weekend, There will be a major snow storm in March that will fuck up outdoor ridin, I have a growing nicotine habit to deal with, Beer tastes good...OK never mind that one, I am 30 lb heaver than I was in Aug., I will most likely quit the bike team I am on, my nutrition plan is "Fuck it I am eatin it", and well so what.
It will be interesting to see what happens to me, a guy in his mid thirties (oh damn, mid thirties? fuck me) who has seriously let himself go, when I hit the ultra endurance race scene.
Starting on April 19th I will be racing every weekend and as much as 3 times a week until the 4th of July. That’s 13 weeks in a row.
So let this be a lesson to you fuck sticks out there who think your bad ass cause you trained SOOOO hard and finished in the top spots.
Going into a race trained and finishing well is for pussies.
The one doin it out of shape and spending 2 to 3 times longer on the course is the true bad ass.

Due to a lull at work, the possibility of increased membership, some complaints, the last night of Friday night broomball and a big drinking night ahead I might just write on this damn thing again.
You all will be proud of our little D-Train as he completed the Tough Guy race. He did well (top 90%) but got Mad Cow and is currently in the corner chewin on me new tubeless tires.
So god damn it we're back and just as drunk and fat as before. Although Jaminson does not cure mad cow disease it does make it a bit more interesting.

The premium upgrade option is for those teams that would prefer a few more luxuries than our Absa Cape Epic tented race village offers. This is what you get in addition to the normal entry package:
Yeah. Cory broke his little finger today. He says we will still race and let me tell you this...Fuck Mike Moore, cause the hospital would not even talk to him until they had a credit card number.
Damn!
Another kick in the panits is that there is a big wild fire problem up her at the moment. Our race has already had a day that had a major change do to this. In 2003 the race was almost canceled cause of fires.
Link to the vidsSS Chuck flys in tomarrow night. Gota get him in Calgary.
I live a mile from this. My place is the exit before. A few hundred feet before the bridge. I had crossed it twice at lunchtime yesterday running to Hollywood’s, glad I did not wait and do it after work. Officially D-train and I are cut off from each other. It was a bitch to get to his place in the south before this now…
I have always been skeptical of the media when they cover things like this. They are profiteering idiots. There has been so much incorrect information being spewed to the world from these people it is a wonder that anyone will listen to them.
This is going to mess up the city for years. Traffic on both the roads and the barge traffic on the river. Should be an interesting time.
For all of you out there keep this in mind. Most of us who live in the city had given up driving over that bridge during the rush hour do to the traffic.
Anyway D-train is off to Denver and hopefully he will be back in Mpls Friday morning. Got a bit of backing to do yet but should be ready. Buck Hill race tonight, not sure if I am going, as there is no good way to get there.
Doing an event like the TRC brings out a lot of emotions and has been interesting to see which camp my friends land in. It appears that either we are going to quit by day 3 or we are going to finish and have fun. Everyone has their reasons as to our ability to complete this. No worries though. None of the critiques have been done in malice and have instead shown the real concern that they may have. But just in case I have read into their comments wrongly, BLEEP OFF.
Here is an e-mail that AC had sent D-train and I.
If I were you two, I would have a boner right now. Even if you don't
win :-) you will get to see some awesome scenery. Don't over pack! You
will stink on your trip, accept that. Bears won't hurt you unless they
feel like they have no other choice but to fight or eat you. Out in the
open, bears run away. Eat tuna. If you have to siphon water out of a
stream to drink it, bring a small packet of powdered lemonade to kill
the irony, Guardia taste. "Ironman" by Judas Priest is a good song to
hum so you can keep proper cadence in the big ring.
Yes.
